Great venue for intimate gatherings!

We stayed for 3 nights, and had a wedding ceremony with 30 guests on Saturday night. The atmosphere of the mansion suited our personalities perfectly, and the whole evening has been described by our friends as "enchanting." The acoustics in the room with the grand piano created a great space for our local musician to perform. It was the coldest day of the year, so the house was cold, and their was a frozen pipe/leak near the garage, but the technician came to fix the heat as soon as we called, and the leak was outside, so it didn't affect us much. The bedrooms are separated nicely, which gave our guests privacy. We will always hold a special place in our hearts for the Florsheim mansion, and we would recommend it to others looking to host an intimate gathering.

Excellent home!

Our group of 8 enjoyed our stay in this home. It is quiet, clean, tidy, well equipped for our needs, well heated, easy to find and access, and has a usable division between private and group gathering space. The quirks are present but not annoying. There is a range in the niceness and size of the bedrooms, but each of my guests was content. When we arrived and requested firewood, it was on the hearth in a few hours.”

One of the highlights!

Recently hosted a few out of town guests for a birthday celebration and weekend visit to Chicago. The mansion was not only comfortable and conveniently located but proved to be on of the highlights of the trip. I would highly recommend Russ as a host and his home as a great way to bring family and friends together.

A must stay!

What a great experience and location for this property.....it's absolutely perfect. I had a business trip to Chicago and had a small team of professionals with me and this property was ideal. Centrally located, right next to the lake for morning exercise, very clean and well maintained, and yet had the privacy of a local residence. We loved it!

A wonderful place to stay!

This was my first AirBnB experience, so I was nervous! But Russ is responsive and clear. It was very reassuring. This is a wonderful place to stay. The home is clean and quiet, well appointed, and conveniently located to just about everything. We had four people stay here, but easily could have had another 3-4 quite comfortably. I'm a piano player and it was a treat to play such a fine instrument. The Steinway is in tune and in great shape! Heads up, if your car is over 6' tall, you'll want to park it in the garage across from the "hash a go go" restaurant ($50 a night) a block away. We started to pull in there but it looked tight; then we measured it. Yeah, too tight. Tons of refrigerator space, so very easy to set up shop and do life for a couple days. Thanks, Russ, we really enjoyed it."
